pilot still missing after an f-15 fighter jet crashed in augusta county, virginia. the pilot and the jet are with the 104th fighter wing of the massachusetts international guard. experts say the pilot is an experienced flyer. he was on his way to new orleans to have routine maintenance. the cause of the crash is still under investigation. it's possible you may want to avoid one major road in montgomery county because crews are still making emergency paving repairs on connecticut avenue between the d.c. line and east-west highway. worked just started on the southbound lanes. jeanette reyes has more from frustrated drivers. >> emergency road work is underway along connecticut highway douche -- connecticut avenue near east-west highway. two northbound lanes are now shut down because they are doing some repaving and restriping

which should be wrapped up shortly. this was supposed to be an average project but crews got quite a surprise when they discover the road underneath was crumbling. this was originally a $2.5 million safety and resurfacing project, but now the road needs to be completely repaved, forcing crews to shut down two lanes at a time. take a listen to what one of the drivers had to say about this inconvenience during rush hour. this on am to plan rush hour monday without notification is crazy. we are just looking for a little notification and planning. take his46,000 drivers road every day, so you can imagine how busy it gets in rush-hour. state highway officials tell me they will begin working shortly on the opposite side of the road, the southbound lanes heading into the district.

>> welcome back. the fbi and the secret service investigating a series of cyber attacks against several financial institutions in the u.s. thereforehase and your other firms were hit this month. a cyber attack on one of the nation's biggest banks. sources calling it a potentially major breach at jpmorgan chase and at least one other financial institution earlier this month. one official tells us that when a bank this large is targeted, it is not just a financial crime but also a possible national security matter. now the fbi and secret service are investigating, looking into whether russian hackers could be responsible, a possible italian nation for sanctions imposed over the conflict in ukraine. it could be retaliation, but

turning now to another developing story, the united states is trying to determine if a second american fighting with isil in syria has been killed. dated arm and officials are looking into reports of an american killed last week. this comes as the mother of an american journalist held hostage by isil is making an emotional plea to the terrorist groups leader. steven sotloff was last seen alive at the end of the video which showed the beheading of american journalist james foley. the idea that he would be swayed by this video does not strike me as likely. holdingdition, isil is you to view other americans hostage. president obama is meeting with members of his national security council today. turning to the weather, two storm systems, one on each coast of the u.s., creates dangerous conditions in the water. huge waves are expected again in

died when he was dragged from this well. yesterday, one person was rescued by surfing legend laird hamilton. on the east coast, hurricane upstobal is whipping dangerous surf. a 17-year-old was swept away in new jersey. in ocean city, maryland, an 18-year-old that got caught under a rip current died. >> crystal ball is expected to stay offshore but is expected to pose a huge threat. waves up to 16 are possible. toso many people are headed the outer banks, ocean city, and up north. soit is pushing up north, the rip curl advisory will be up through today, but i think it will be going down in the next couple of days. obviously, use extra caution out there.

50's and 60's, it is much more comfortable. now we have drier air settling in upon us. here is a snapshot from space. not seeing much cloud cover. lots of sunshine out there, so a really nice afternoon. clear skies and breeze tonight, temperatures will drop that. temperatures into the 50's in the suburbs. another night to open up the windows. temperatures in the 80's this afternoon. it should be a pleasant afternoon. overnight, cooler air moving in. tomorrow, low to mid 80's. it could feel better tomorrow, but long-term into the weekend, keep an eye on the labor day outlook. it looks like more heat and humidity will be coming in. saturday, and isolated storms possible in the mountains. otherwise heating up to 90 degrees.
